Social Justice Mondays

This year, the Access to Justice Institute, the Social Justice Coalition, the Student Bar Association, and the Center for Global Justice are collaborating to bring you Social Justice Mondays!!

Social Justice Mondays is an organized, weekly series that aims to create a forum to bring awareness and encourage discussion about the many issues that surround the idea of "social justice" in order to help strengthen the social justice community of students, faculty and staff at the law school.

We invite students, student organizations, faculty, and/or staff to contact ATJI if you are interested in proposing a program/event idea for Social Justice Mondays.  All proposals will be evaluated by the Social Justice Mondays Coordinating Group which was created in collaboration with the Social Justice Coalition, the SBA, and the Access to Justice Institute. The goal of the Coordinating Group is to keep the Social Justice Mondays programming vibrant, relevant, and diverse. The Coordinating Group will consider the following criteria when reviewing proposals:

  • Unique and/or novel additions to the conversation on social justice at the law school
  • Addressing a present need or concern in the community
  • Touching on issues faced by marginalized communities (e.g., race, class, gender, ability)
  • Conversations based on intersectionality of issues and/or collaborations between different communities

All proposals should include at least a brief description of the event, suggested speakers, type of event format, any technical support needed, and a plan for a moderator if needed.

If you are interested in proposing an idea for Social Justice Mondays program, please contact ATJI Associate Director, Monika Batra Kashyap at batram@seattleu.edu.  For information on how to submit a Social Justice Monday proposal, please click here.
