Education Law Academy

The Education Law Academy provides instruction, training and support in various aspects of education law to law students, attorneys, parents of children in school, education professionals and others involved in the educational decision-making process. Its initial focus has been in the area of special education. With the support and cooperation of area advocacy and disability organizations, it has organized and underwritten programs for parents of children with disabilities. It is also responsible for the IDEA Academy, which for the last eight years has offered training to special education hearing officers.

Parent Advocacy Training Program: Basic Advocacy Skills

The Education Law Academy, in conjunction with Washington PAVE and The Arc of King County, present a one-day training in basic advocacy skills for parents of children with disabilities. This will be the first of a series of programs focusing on programming and services for children with disabilities, from pre-school through post-secondary education. Inasmuch as this program is intended for non-attorneys, no CLE credits will be sought for this program. More information and registration here.
