Angélica Cházaro

Biography

Angélica Cházaro is currently at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, an organization providing legal representation to immigrants and refugees in Washington State. She is a recipient of the New Voices Fellowship, and works primarily with immigrant survivors of violence. Over the last six years, Angelica has worked both nationally and internationally with organizations fighting for the rights of women and immigrants, including the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies in San Francisco, CA; Sanctuary for Families in Brooklyn, NY; The International Federation of Women Lawyers in Accra, Ghana; the Bronx Defenders, in the Bronx, NY; and the Legal Aid Society, in Brooklyn, NY.

She holds a law degree as well as a BA Women's Studies. A first-generation immigrant from Mexico, Angelica is committed to social justice and the long-term struggle to protect the rights of immigrant communities of color across the United States.
