Biography

Laura Einstein is the Legal Director of Planned Parenthood of Western Washington and a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Washington Law School.

A recent transplant from Washington, DC, her career has focused on civil rights and employment law. As a new lawyer, she worked in the firm of Newman & Owens which represented labor unions in their efforts to battle sex based wage discrimination in jobs predominantly filled by women. From 1988-2001, Ms. Einstein was a principal in the law firm of Kohn & Einstein where she practiced employment law, representing employees in disputes with their employers and providing counsel to small employers regarding their obligations under federal and local employment laws. In 2001, she joined the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice, where she represented the government in enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act in employment, public accommodations and state and local governments.
