Alan Saltzman

Visiting Professor of Law

Biography

Professor Saltzman is a professor of law at the University of Detroit Mercy, and recently was a visiting professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law. After graduating from law school, he served as a Law Clerk to California Supreme Court Justice Matthew Tobriner and then practiced law in San Francisco for three years. Before joining UDM, he was a Fellow in Criminal Law and Policy at Stanford University Law School, a law professor at the University of Nebraska and a law professor at the University of Oklahoma.

He is the author of Vol. 5A, Michigan Court Rules Practice, Rules of Criminal Procedure & Commentary and Courtroom Handbook on Michigan Criminal Procedure. (Both with Sheila Deming; published by Thomson West.) He has also written elsewhere on criminal law and criminal procedure issues. At UDM, Professor Saltzman is active in the Moot Court program, including the Ernest Goodman Civil Rights Mock Trial Tournament.
