
Michelle R. Slack
Visiting Associate Professor of Law
Biography
Professor Slack has taught at the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law, West Virginia University College of Law, Southern Illinois University School of Law, and Mercer Law School in Macon, Georgia.
Prior to full time teaching, Professor Slack was a trial attorney for the United States Department of Justice, Civil Division, for eight years. In this role, she handled hundreds of federal appeals, as well as numerous federal district court actions, including serving as lead counsel in a nationwide class action. Professor Slack regularly serves as an instructor at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina-a government attorney training facility-teaching courses in trial and appellate advocacy, evidence, and immigration law.
After graduating from law school, but before working at DOJ, Professor Slack served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Frank J. Battisti, United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the Honorable Robert B. Krupansky, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, sitting by designation on the district court. Professor Slack teaches courses in trial advocacy, evidence, civil procedure, and immigration law.
