Finding Videos
Videotapes, DVDs, CDs, and other digital media are available for patron use in the law library. The library has three DVD/Videocassette viewers in the Multi-Media Room, 204.
There are several ways to locate the multimedia formats.
The law school technology department posts and maintains a streaming video site, media.law.seattleu.edu. Search here first for campus events and speakers, career services presentations, and specific class lectures.
The library collects videotapes and DVDs for the permanent collection. On the Law Library Catalog, search LC Subject Headings by typing videocassette. The results will contain a list of both videocassettes and DVDs. You can also conduct an author, title or keyword search and then limit the search by clicking Limit/Sort Search, the blue button at the top of your results screen. Use the pull down menu under Material Type to choose the videocassette format.
The law school tapes many campus events and classroom presentations that do not get posted to the streaming video site nor added to the permanent collection. These items can be found by doing a Course Reserves Search on the Law Library Catalog. Select the class name, professor name, or the department hosting the event. The results will include both media and non-media items. The description of the retrieved records will indicate the material format.
