What do I need to know about parking on campus?

Will there be a Fall Orientation?
Orientation for the fall will be Thursday, August 20 and Friday, August 21. On Thursday, August 20, all members of the 2009 entering class should plan to attend orientation. Those students who did not take Criminal law in the summer should plan to attend the "Introduction to Legal Learning Workshop" on Friday, August 21. You will receive a complete schedule later this summer.

When will I know my class schedule for 2009-2010?
All first year law students take the same required courses throughout their first year. First year students can complete their first year in 9 months, 12 months or 15 months. If you are planning to start classes in June by taking Criminal Law, the summer registration packets were available on Monday, May 18 at Spring Visit Day. If you were unable to attend that day, the packets were put into the mail the next day. Fall registration packets (these packets will indicate which section you are placed in - the first year entering class is divided into sections) will be sent out in mid July.

When can I get a Campus Card/ID card?
On Thursday, June 18, Campus Card staff members will be on hand in Sullivan Hall to take photos and print your Seattle University ID Card. They will be here from noon to 6 p.m. that day. Otherwise, see them in Room 313 of the Engineering Building directly across from Sullivan Hall. You must have a photo ID with you - a driver's license or passport. Their phone number is 206.398.2273 and office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. should you have any questions. However; note that Seattle University offices close at 3 p.m. on Fridays during the summer session.

When will I receive my Seattle University e-mail address?
For those students starting in the summer, Seattle University e-mail addresses will be a part of the summer registration packet information. Summer registration packet information will be available on Monday, May 18 during Spring Visit Day. If a person is unable to attend Spring Visit Day, the packets are placed in the mail the following day. For those students starting the fall, the Seattle University e-mail addresses will be a part of the fall registration materials. The fall registration materials are typically mailed out around the middle of July.

I'm taking the Summer Criminal Law course. When will I receive Summer Registration information?
Summer registration packets will be handed out on Monday, May 18, 2009 if you attend Spring Visit Day. If you do not attend Spring Visit Day, the packets will be placed in the mail the next day. Again, the first year curriculum includes Criminal Law, Torts, Contracts, Civil Procedure, Property and Legal Writing.

There are several ways in which Seattle University School of Law can help you. Students can be very proactive in attending networking events, participating in internships and externships, volunteering, calling on the expertise of professors and meeting with Center for Professional Development staff on a regular basis.

Does Seattle University School of Law have a mandatory grade curve for first year courses?

If I was planning to start in the fall (August) may I switch to the summer (June) start?
Yes. There is no deadline for making this switch but realize that there is reading assigned that needs to be completed before the first day of class. So, give yourself ample time to purchase the book and read. If you decide to start summer, you will also need to let the Student Financial Services office know by contacting them at 206.398.4250 or lawfa@seattleu.edu. Please contact the Office of Admission at 1.800.471.1767 or lawadmis@seattleu.edu to let us know of your enrollment status change. Or, we are sending out 'Summer Start' information each week, respond by filling out the card and returning it to the Office of Admission. The summer criminal law course starts on Monday, June 22, 2009.

As a Seattle University law student, what do I have access to on the campus?
Once you are an enrolled law student, besides having access to all law school facilities, you have access to the Connolly Center (athletic facility), the main campus library, all dining facilities, bookstore, chapel, health services, counseling services, and parking.

Are there multiple deposits and if so, when are they due?
If you are starting in the fall, you are required to pay two deposits of $150 each. The first one is due April 15 (if admitted before March 15) and the second is due on July 15. If you are starting in the summer, you are required to pay one deposit of $150 and it is due on April 15 (if admitted before March 15).
