We know you have many options when applying to law schools. We believe in the education you will receive at Seattle University School of Law and would like to share with you a few reasons:

  • One of 14 Jesuit law schools in the United States, Seattle University is the largest, most diverse law school in the Pacific Northwest. The 2009 entering class is made up of 48% women and 27% students of color. The average age is 27.
  • We offer a comprehensive financial aid program through which  $35 million dollars in scholarships, loan, loan forgiveness (for alumni) and work-study funds are annually awarded to more than 90% of our students.
  • Our Legal Writing Program, considered one of the finest in the nation, is led by Professor Laurel Oates '77, who along with Professor Anne Enquist and librarian Kelly Kunsch, co-authored The Legal Writing Handbook, in use at nearly half the law schools in the country.
  • The Access to Justice Institute and Ronald A. Peterson Law Clinic complement the Jesuit-inspired mission calling on all students to use their education to serve others. Through these programs, students are trained and placed with different legal services agencies to serve the needs of the city's less fortunate.
  • We offer an Early Enrollment Option through which all admitted students may begin legal studies in the summer, rather than waiting until fall, and a flexible schedule allowing students to complete their first year in 9, 12 or 15 months.
  • More than 100 classes are offered in fall, spring, and summer terms between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
  • Our faculty is committed to both teaching and scholarship. Our student to faculty ratio is 13.5:1.
  • Along with the highly regarded Albers School of Business we offer four joint degree programs; Master of Business Administration (J.D. /M.B.A), Master of International Business (J.D. /M.I.B), a Master of Science in Finance (J.D. /M.S.F), or a Master of Professional Accounting (J.D ./M.P.A.C.). We also now offer a (J.D. /M.P.A) with the Institute for Public Service, a J.D./Master of Sports Administration and Leadership (J.D./M.S.A.L.) and a J.D./Masters in Transformational Leadership (J.D./M.TL) with the School of Theology and Ministry.
  • A diverse curriculum allows students to specialize in one of 14 areas of interest: Business, Civil Advocacy, Commercial Law, Criminal Practice, Environmental Law, Estate Planning, Family Law, Health Law, Intellectual Property, International Law, Labor & Employment, Poverty Law, Real Estate Law and Tax Law.
  • There are 9,500 alumni practicing in 50 states and 20 countries abroad. Seattle University School of Law graduates make up the largest number of practicing attorneys in the state of Washington.
