Fall and Spring Semester Registration Appointments
Preference Registration Appointments
Your Preference Registration Appointment will be the first of your two registration appointments during the fall or spring semester. Preference Registration runs for only a few days and during this time you may register only for classes with a registration preference that matches your academic program (full-time or part-time). If class with a matching registration preference has filled, you may waitlist for it. You may register for a maximum of 12 credits during Preference Registration. Any classes that you gained entrance to during lotteires count towards this total. Once preference registration closes you will not be able to make registration changes until your Regular Registration Appointment begins.
Regular Registration Appointments
Once your Regular Registration Appointment begins you may register for any class with open seats for which you meet the prerequisite requirements. You may waitlist for any full classes for which you meet the prerequisite requirements. You may continue to make registration changes online through the Friday of the first week of classes.
Appointment Order
For fall and spring semester registration, appointments are assigned by class year and then registration cohort. Class year is determined by your current year in school, not your class year in upcoming semesters. The year order of registration will always be:
1. 4L students
2. 3L students
3. 2L students
4. 1L students
Within class year students are ordered by registration cohort. You will be randomly assigned a registration cohort of A, B, C, or D during the registration period for your fall 2L semester. This will remain your cohort until you graduate. We rotate through the registration cohorts each fall and spring registration period. The order for Fall 2011 registration through Spring 2013 registration is as follows:
Fall 2011 Registration: B, A, D, C
Spring 2012 Registration: C, D, A, B
Fall 2012 Registration: A, B, C, D
Spring 2013 Registration: D, C, B, A
Summer Semester Registration Appointments
Appointments for summer registration are assigned by Part Time/Full Time program and class year. Because Part Time students must carry lighter credit loads during the fall and spring semesters, these students must attend summer classes to complete their law degree in three and one-half years. Part time students are therefore allowed to register for summer courses before full time students.
The summer registration order is as follows:
1. Part Time 4L students
2. Part Time 3L students
3. Part Time 2L students
4. Full Time 3L students
5. Full Time 2L students
6. Full Time 1L students
We do not divide these appointments into registration cohorts for summer registration. No classes are designated Part Time, Full Time or Equal Preference during summer registration.
Appointment Time Conflicts
If you do not have computer access during your registration appointment time, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 206-398-4150 or lawreg@seattleu.edu. We will make arrangements to register you for classes during your appointment time. We will not reassign your appointment to an earlier time due to a conflict.
