Application Process

Thank you for your interest in Seattle University School of Law!

We invite you to complete the request for catalog form for the materials. In the last two years we have experienced a nearly 60% increase in applications and we encourage you to be among the first applicants for next year. The new application materials are available in early fall. As a rolling admission school, we will begin accepting applications in the fall. In the meantime, we welcome your calls and visits to our campus. Please check back to our Web site regarding scheduled Admission programming in the months ahead.

How to Apply

While the application deadline is March 1, (February 1 deadline for a completed application for consideration for the Alternative Admission program) you should submit your application materials at the earliest possible date after they are available. As a rolling admission school, we will begin accepting applications in the fall.You need not wait until you have taken the LSAT and/or received your score. Please refer to our application timeline.

  1. Complete the Application for Admission online, enclosed in our bulletin or downloaded from this Web site. Please select one option only. A hard copy should not be sent in addition to an online application. We also accept the Law School Admission Council application form from the LSACD, available at www.LSAC.org. Because there are now a variety of methods for completing the application, the instructions are not uniformed. Please read the instructions for each format carefully.

  2. Submit your application to our Admission Office, along with:
    (a) an application fee of $50 (check or money order payable to the Seattle University School of Law);
    (b) a two- or three-page personal statement that is typed, double-spaced, and signed (note: applicants using the LSDAS service will provide a certifying statement with their signature along with payment);
    (c) a resume detailing your academic endeavors, community service record, and employment history.

  3. Take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Application forms for the test and important information about it are available at your local college or university, Seattle University School of Law, or on the Web site of the Law School Admission Council.

  4. Register with the Law School Data Assembly Service (LSDAS). Information on this service appears in the LSAT/LSDAS Registration and Information Book, available at Seattle University School of Law or from the Law School Admission Council Web site.

  5. Send transcripts of all your undergraduate work directly to LSDAS. If admitted, you must submit an official transcript showing the award of a bachelor's degree prior to enrollment in the law school.

  6. Arrange to have two (2) letters of recommendation submitted on your behalf. Of particular influence are evaluations from professors or professional colleagues who can comment on your ability to analyze complex material and to speak and write with fluency, economy, and precision. Your references must be sent through the Law School Admission Council letter of recommendation service.

Additional procedures for international students.
