Currently serving as President of the Latina/o Bar Association of Washington, Lopez is a tireless advocate for the Latina/o community on issues of race and justice and is dedicated to working with the association's legal clinic. At SU Law, she has helped build a supportive environment for students, has been a leader in developing diversity initiatives, and is a staunch mentor.
Distinguished Practitioner Joaquin Avila, director of the National Voting Rights Advocacy Initiative, was honored with the Presidential Award from the League of United Latin American Citizens in February at the organization's 15th annual LULAC National Legislative Conference's awards gala in Washington, D.C.
