Seattle University School of Law

Job Shadow Program

The law school's Job Shadow Program, a collaborative effort between the Office of Alumni Relations, the Student Bar Association, the Public Interest Law Foundation, and the Access to Justice Institute, provides an excellent opportunity for law students to get a firsthand look at what the legal world is really like outside of the classroom. We invite alumni and friends of the law school to consider hosting one or more students at your place of work between April 8th - 12th.

The time you are able to give to this project is completely at their discretion. A full day, half-day, or even an hour to chat over coffee - any time you are able to give is truly appreciated. Past job shadow volunteers have invited students to witness client interviews, hosted tours of the courthouse, their company, or law firm, led informal discussions with office colleagues on the nature of their work, and in general, dialogued with the student(s) about their practice.

To volunteer, please contact the Office of Alumni Relations at rsvplawalumni@seattleu.edu by Monday, April 1 with the following information included in your response:

  • the field of law you practice,
  • how many students you can accommodate,
  • your contact information (e-mail and physical address) and
  • the date(s) and time(s) between April 8th - 12th that work best for you. We recommend a morning (anytime between 9-12) and/or afternoon session (anytime between 1-4).

Contact the Office of Alumni Relations for more information. Attorney volunteers need not be SU Law alumni to participate.
