The Intersection of Intellectual Property, Patent Law and Software Piracy

Patent prosecution and litigation are undergoing major reforms in the Supreme Court, in Congress, and in the Patent and Trademark Office. Computer crimes and higher levels of internet fraud in intellectual property are having a major affect on U.S. competitiveness and economic viability. Katheryn Frierson will discuss her experience at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the area of criminal IP protection and software piracy. Judge Donohue will summarize important points litigators should keep in mind as a result of recent patent law changes. William Harmon will discuss how the Supreme Court is affecting patent law in the corporate world. Michael Stein will then present an overview of Federal circuit holdings in the area of patent law over the last year.
