4th Parent Advocacy Training Program: Introduction to the Special Education Process

This program was designed for new-comers to special edudcation - or those who have a renewed concern. It provides a 2-hour overview of the basics, focusing on the framework and procedures created by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
The presenter was S. James Rosenfeld, Adjunct Professor and Director, Education Law Programs. Professor Rosenfeld, the founder of COPAA, is also Director of the National Academy for IDEA Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers, which has trained special education hearing officers from approximately 30 states.
Participants also received written materials for reference following the webinar: an overview of the IDEA; a selection of major provisions of the Washington Administrative Code (WAC); and a Parent Guide to IDEA (PDF).
