The Academy for IDEA Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers, on behalf of the California Office of Administrative Hearings, will conduct a four-day training for special education hearing officers in Irvine, California. The training will address disability awareness, testing and assessment, current case law and mediation. Attendance is available only to persons who currently serve as special education hearing officers, or to state-level hearing system administrative personnel not involved in representation of state or local level education agencies.

Program Highlights: A concentrated segment on decision-writing, for which attendees will be asked to prepare and submit a writing sample and alternate programming for those who prefer not to participate; Programming for state-level persons involved in other types of dispute resolution procedures; Sessions on mediation; Discussion groups to consider ways in which to improve the equity and efficiency of due process.
