Akane R. Suzuki

Adjunct Professor

Biography

Ms. Suzuki's practice focuses on federal taxation and all facets of the estate planning process, from basic planning for young families to complex trusts, family LLCs, family business succession planning, and charitable giving. In addition, she handles probate, trust administration, and gift and estate tax returns. Ms. Suzuki also advises tax exempt organizations regarding tax issues. She has helped many new nonprofit organizations obtain 501(c)(3) status.

Active in the legal community, Ms. Suzuki is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Seattle, Washington Women in Tax, and the Asian Bar Association of Washington, among other legal associations. She is a Board Member, Community Affairs Committee, Japan Business Association of Seattle, a Board Member and VP of the Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association of Seattle, and Director of Programs of the Nichibei Women's Network.

She was raised in Japan and is fluent in Japanese. She is a frequent speaker for community groups, including giving presentations in Japanese. Ms. Suzuki was named by her peers as a "Rising Star" of Washington law in Washington Law & Politics magazine, 2003-2006 and 2009.
