Professor Nelson focuses his practice in the areas of intellectual property, antitrust, and appellate litigation. His clients have included Amazon.com, where he defended the company in the “shopping cart” patent infringement case; Two Way Media, who is attempting to enforce its streaming media patent against AOL; and Kentucky Speedway, who is suing Nascar for antitrust violations. He also has represented Intellectual Ventures and Ignition Partners, among others. In January 2006, he represented a group of social scientists in a Supreme Court amicus brief in the Texas Redistricting case. In March 2006, he represented a group of inventors and Intellectual Ventures in an amicus brief in the eBay v. MercExchange case. Mr. Nelson also has practiced First Amendment law on behalf of various media companies. He is licensed in the States of Texas and Washington.
