Deputy Prosecutor, King County Prosecuting Attorneys' Office 1973 - 1976; private practice Bellevue, Washington 1976 -2000; Vice-President Washington State Trial Lawyer's Association 1993 - 1994; Board of Governors, Washington State Trial Lawyer's Association 1982 - 1986, 1990 - 1994; Special District Counsel, Washington State Bar Association 1993 - 2000. Richard McDermott was recognized as one of Washington's "Super Lawyers" by Washington Law & Politics Magazine 1999 and appointed to the King County Superior Court by Governor Gary Locke March 2, 2000. While in private practice, Judge McDermott focused on trial law, concentrating on plaintiff's personal injury law; Judge McDermott has been an adjunct professor at Seattle University since May 1999. He was admitted to practice in Washington 1973.
