Richard McDermott was recognized as one of Washington's "Super Lawyers" by Washington Law & Politics Magazine 1999 and appointed to the King County Superior Court by Governor Gary Locke March 2, 2000. While in private practice, Judge McDermott focused on trial law, concentrating on plaintiff's personal injury law; Judge McDermott has been an adjunct professor at Seattle University since May 1999.
