Sara Ainsworth

Biography

Sara Ainsworth has been an advocate for the rights of domestic violence survivors throughout her legal career, including ten years of service as Senior Counsel at Legal Voice, an organization committed to advancing the legal rights of women living in poverty, improving the civil legal response to domestic and sexual violence, and ensuring access to reproductive health care for all women. Before joining Legal Voice, she engaged in similar advocacy at Northwest Justice Project, Snohomish County Legal Services, and as public service counsel at Foster Pepper and Shefelman.

She has taught at both the University of Washington and Seattle University, in a range of courses on issues related to women, violence, justice, and professionalism.

A 1996 graduate of the University of Washington School of Law and a former President of the Washington State Bar Association's Family Law Executive Committee, she is a current member of the Washington State Gender & Justice Commission.
