*The WSBA Indian Law & Indian Legal Scholars (www.nwiba.org) offer stipends from $500-$1000 to Native law students who will be taking the WA State bar exam this summer. Applications are available at Student Financial Services. The application deadline is May 30, 2008.
Do you know someone starting law school next year? The MCCA Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program is open to “all” full-time students who will start law school fall 2008. The goal is to promote academic excellence and diversity in law schools by awarding ten newly accepted law students from disadvantaged backgrounds with scholarships to help defray their education expenses. It will provide ten students with $10,000 a year for three years. Other components include providing mentors and support in locating first-year, summer legal employment at a leading corporate law department. In addition, several students will receive a one-time award of $10,000 to assist with their first-year expenses. See www.uncf.org/forstudents/OnlineScholarships.asp. Deadline is June 1, 2008.
NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund is sponsoring a law student essay contest on the topic “The Right of the Individual to Keep and Bear Arms as a Federally Protected Right.” Cash prizes are $5,000, $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000. Key Bank $2,500 Scholarship: Each month from now through August 2008, three students will win a $2,500 scholarship. Visit www.Key.com/win and complete the registration form.
