As a Seattle University law student, you are likely to be eligible for several or all of the programs described below.
More than 400 scholarships are awarded to Seattle University law students each year. No application process is necessary for institutional scholarships, except for the Scholars for Justice Scholarship. At Entry scholarships are awarded by Admissions during the admit process and Year End scholarships are granted based upon academic performance after the first and second years of enrollment. All scholarships are offered in the form of tuition remission. Most At Entry scholarships awarded to entering students are renewable, with conditions, for the second and third year of study (for a maximum of three years). Scholarship amounts are divided equally between fall and spring terms.
Student loans are available in two forms: government and/or alternative loans. Alternative loan programs are available to help those students whose needs are not fully met by other government loan programs, institutional or outside scholarships, and/or employment. These credit-based loans typically include the Federal Direct Graduate Professional PLUS (Grad PLUS) loan, Law Achiever Loan, Law Access Loan, CitiAssist Law Loan, and the Law Student Loan. Alternative loans are limited to the cost of education less other financial aid and/or particular lender maximums.
One of the best ways to help finance your legal education is to secure employment during the academic year through the work-study program. We encourage our students to gain valuable work experience, while reducing educational loan debt, either through need based work-study programs, or by attaining non-work-study positions on or off campus. Many of our students enroll in the Part-time Evening Program, allowing them to maintain full-time outside employment while attending law school.
