Off Campus Seattle University Web Access Disrupted

This message affects all Seattle University off campus users of Web mail and the School of Law Web site.

During the weekend of March 15, Seattle University's internet provider Terabeam moved the location of their services from downtown Seattle to Redmond. During this move, access to Seattle University Domain Name (DNS) was down for off-campus. Seattle University was not notified ahead of time of this outage.

If your particular ISP during this time updated its own DNS, it would have had a bad copy of DNS unable to connect to Seattle University's external Web services. ISP's update their local copies according to their own schedule and needs, and most will be updated correctly by the time you receive this notice.

If you are still unable to connect to services such as or from off campus, take the following steps:

  1. Clear history in your browser (if you don't know how please contact the Help Desk for assistance)
  2. Reboot your computer

If at that point the Seattle University URLs are still not accessible, contact the Help Desk (ext. 5571); we will need to know what ISP you use, and we will follow up with them to resolve the issue.

We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and hope that this explanation and remedy serve your needs.

Kind regards,

Information Technology Network Services
