Women of the Year Awards

The Seattle University School of Law Women’s Law Caucus and the Washington Women’s Lawyer Foundation hosted their Washington’s Women of the Year awards on Thursday, March 6 at the School of Law. The reception honored the five women Supreme Court Justices from the State of Washington. Honored were Justices Faith Ireland, Barbara Madsen, Susan Owens, Mary Fairhurst, and Bobbe Bridge. For the first time in state history, women form a majority on the State Supreme Court. Emily Thelen, President of the Women's Law Caucus, introduced Deans Rudy Hasl of Seattle University School of Law and Joe Knight of the University of Washington School of Law who made welcoming comments. Chief Justice Gerry Alexander presented the awards and each of the recipients present made comments. Governor Gary Locke and several other dignitaries were also in attendance.
