Washington State Supreme Court Adopts Access to Justice Technology Principles
On May 20, 2005 at Seattle University School of Law, the Washington State Access to Justice Technology Bill of Rights Committee celebrated the Washington State Supreme Court's adoption of the Access to Justice Technology Principles. That Order, No. 25700-B-449, is the first of its kind in the U.S. and sets forth fundamental principles to guide the use of technology in the justice system to prevent barriers to access. Key speakers at the event included the Honorable Gerry Alexander, Chief Justice of the Washington State Supreme Court; the Honorable Rob McKenna, Attorney General of Washington State; the Honorable Jorge Madrazo, Consul General of the Republic of Mexico; Jean Holcomb, King County Law Librarian; and the Honorable Donald Horowitz, Chair of the Access to Justice Technology Bill of Rights Committee.
