Official Rank GPA Ranges

2014-2015 Class Rank Ranges

Graduate Class Rank Ranges (Academic Years 2010-2011 to 2014-2015)

Fall Ranking

Three ranks are released after all Fall Semester grades have been posted, the Fall Second Year Class Rank, The Fall Third/Fourth Year Class Rank and the Preliminary Graduate Class Rank. First Year students do not receive a Fall Semester class rank.

Fall Second Year Class Rank

All Second Year students who completed the Fall Semester receive a Fall Second Year Class Rank.

Fall Third/Fourth Year Class Rank

All Third and Fourth Year students who completed the Fall Semester, but did not graduate in December, receive a Third/Fourth Year Class Rank.

Preliminary Graduate Rank

All students who graduated in August or December receive a Fall Preliminary Graduate Rank. Final Graduate Class Rank for August and December graduates cannot be calculated until Spring Semester grades have posted.

Spring Ranking

Four ranks are released after all Spring Semester grades have been posted, the Preliminary First Year Class Rank, The Spring Second Year Class Rank, The Spring Third/Fourth Year Class Rank and the Final Graduate Class Rank.

Preliminary First Year Class Rank

All First Year students who completed the majority of their First Year courses receive a Preliminary First Year Class Rank. Final First Year Class Rank is not calculated until after Summer Semester First Year grades have posted.

Spring Second Year Class Rank

All Second Year students who completed the Fall or Spring Semester receive a Spring Second Year Class Rank

Spring Third/Fourth Year Class Rank

All Third and Fourth Year students who completed the Fall or Spring Semester, but did not graduate in December or May, receive a Third/Fourth Year Class Rank.

Final Graduate Rank

All students who graduated in August, December or May receive a Final Graduate Rank.

Summer Ranking

One rank is released after Summer Semester First Year grades have been posted, the Final First Year Class Rank.

Final First Year Class Rank

All active students who completed the majority of their first-year coursework during the academic year receive a Final First Year Class Rank. Students who withdraw from the School of Law before the fall of their second year are not considered active students and are not included in the Final First Year Class Rank.

Final First Year Class Rank is calculated after Summer First Year grades are posted. The Final First Year Class Rank is based on first-year GPA only; No upper level courses are included in the Final First Year Class Rank calculations. If a student defers a 1L course past the normal 1L year that course will not be included in calculating their rank.
