Alumni Regional Outreach Continues to Expand
The School of Law is expanding its outreach to alumni across the U.S. Recent receptions in Tacoma, and Dallas and New Orleans in January were great opportunities to reconnect with some of the school’s graduates.
Interim Dean Annette Clark ’89 was delighted to welcome the South Sound alumni community at a Tacoma social networking celebration last week on the Ruston Way waterfront, at the law offices of Jim Holman ’76. The reception was well attended by members of the Tacoma-Pierce County Young Lawyers Division, graduates from every decade, and several working in Olympia. Dean Clark announced that Dean Designate Mark Niles will be introduced to alumni in the South Sound at a special reception after his arrival this summer.
Kasia Benson ’06, a Law Alumni Board member and recent graduate living in Dallas, co-hosted with the Office of Alumni Relations a small reception for alumni living and working in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in early January. The group enjoyed appetizers and drinks while networking and talking about the future of an alumni group in Texas. One of the immediate challenges is outreach to all alumni in the Texas area and, of course, working around the fact that Texas represents a huge geographical area. We plan to find a way to reach your locale!
Grace Greenwich, director of alumni relations, also traveled to New Orleans in early January to join her faculty colleagues at the annual meeting of American law schools. The school hosted a Washington wine tasting reception and alumni living in the area were invited to come and raise a glass with their former teachers and classmates.
