Law school kicks off 35th anniversary year in Tacoma
Seattle University School of Law will honor its roots, celebrate its achievements
and look toward the future at events throughout the academic year,
which marks the 35th anniversary of the school's founding.
A kickoff reception is Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Museum of Glass
in Tacoma, and a gala celebration will be held April 25 at Benaroya
Hall in Seattle.
"We encourage alumni to come to the celebrations and share
memories of their law school days, reminisce with classmates and
faculty, and support the law school's exciting future," said
Eva Mitchell, who is coordinating the 35th anniversary events.
The law school has grown and changed over the past 35 years, but the mission of educating outstanding lawyers has remained the same.
“Celebrating 35 years of standing for excellence and reaching
for justice – we are making our mark both at home and abroad,”
Dean Kellye Testy said. “While we've accomplished more in
our first 35 years than many other schools have in three times
that time, I'm convinced that the best is still to come.”
She and others encourage alumni to become involved in programs at the law school to help educate the next generation of attorneys to be leaders for a just and humane world.
“You are a crucial part of our future, and we are eager for your involvement
in events throughout the year and beyond,” Testy said. “Together
we can chart a path of excellence that will ensure that when we
look back at our next significant anniversary, we will have commandingly
assured our place among the nation's leading law schools.”
