The Dean's Club is launched!
Michele
Radosevich '94, and her husband, former Judge Dean Morgan,
share a laugh with Richard and Jan Manning. Michele is a member
of the Law Alumni Board, and Dean is a Distinguished Jurist in
Residence at the law school.
Dean Kellye Testy hosted a lively reception for charter
members of the Dean's Club at Seattle's Intiman Theatre in early
October to celebrate the growing group of alumni, friends,
faculty and staff who provide critical financial support and advocacy for
Seattle University School of Law. Dean Testy honored their leadership
role and thanked them for their many contributions to the school.
The evening was capped by an extraordinary performance of Harper
Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird."
A plaque recognizing the 2006-07 charter members of the Dean's Club was unveiled
in September, following the James Bond Moot Court Competition.
The plaque, which will be updated annually, is mounted at the
west entrance of the law school, outside the Justice Fred H. Dore
Courtroom.
For information about the Dean's Club, please contact Satcha Dearborn Graham

Dean
Testy talks with Craig Beetham '89 and Bryant
Reber '74. Craig, an attorney in Tacoma, has a
son who graduated from Seattle University School of Law in
2006 and another who is a 3L. Bryant, a member of the law
school's first graduating class, has a daughter in her first
year at the law school.
Professor David Skover engages Professors John Mitchell and Bryan Adamson; Professor Hank McGee is in the background.
Among
the crowd, Adjunct Professor John McKay speaks with Mitra
and Tony Ravani '07, and Kenneth Miller '94.
Law school offers thanks for a great year
Thanks to growing participation by alumni, friends, students, faculty and staff, the law school had a record-breaking year in terms of giving. The impact is huge: more scholarships, increased support of student organizations and initiatives, expansion of career counseling services, additional summer fellowships, increased faculty support, and the development of international programs.
Here are some highlights from 2006-07 giving
(July 1, 2006 - June 30, 2007):
- More than 700 individuals and organizations made a financial contribution – a 22 percent increase over last year;
- 204 were new donors, making their first annual gift this past fiscal year;
- The 2006-07 Annual Fund for Excellence received $197,000 in unrestricted gifts, a 33 percent increase over last year, and a nearly 500 percent increase since 2004;
- Total gifts to the law school exceeded $2.5 million, including gifts for the annual fund and restricted gifts for special purposes, a 40 percent increase over 2005-06;
- Membership in the Dean's Club– made up of individuals
and organizations that contribute $1,000 annually – increased 100
percent in the past three years, from 60 to 119 this year.
(Dean's Club donors were formerly recognized only as Seattle
University President's Club members.);
- And, the Class of 2007 boasted 36 percent participation and raised more than $4,500 as a class gift.
For details, look for the 2006-07 annual report due out in the winter issue of the Lawyer.
