
Distinguished speakers visit law school
A slate of speakers are on the agenda at the law school this fall talking about important legal issues ranging from the long-ago decision that legalized slavery to present day problems at Guantanamo Bay.
Upcoming speakers include:
Oct. 18
Darrell Puls of Common Ground Associates, presents "Apology
in Litigation: Breakthroughs, Benefits, and Backfires" as
part of Conflict Resolution Day.
Oct. 19
University of Pittsburgh Professor and former Seattle University School of Law faculty member Douglas Branson, discusses his book, "No Seat at the Table: How Corporate Governance and Law Keep Women Out of the Boardroom."
Oct. 25
Neal Katyal, law professor at Georgetown University Law Center,
who argued the case Hamdan v. Rumsfeld working
with Charles Swift '94, will speak.
Oct. 25
Professor Derrick A. Bell Jr., a leading African American scholar who has written extensively on the the quest for racial justice will attend a luncheon at the law school.
Earlier
this month, Albany Law School Professor Paul Finkelman, recognized
as the county's leading legal historian, presented, "Was
Dred Scott Correctly Decided? Reflections on the 150th Anniversary
of the Supreme Court's Worst Decision."
