Law Alumni Board elects new leadership

The Law Alumni Board elected a new president and president-elect to lead the board. Linda Strout ’79 is the new president and Don Black ’95, is president-elect.

Linda StroutStrout is deputy chief executive officer for the Port of Seattle, with management oversight responsibilities for the Port's Human Resources and Labor Relations Departments, as well as its Environmental and Security Strategy Teams. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Allied Arts Foundation and has also served on the boards for Artist Trust, King County Bar Foundation, Columbia Legal Services and the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center. She has held many leadership positions in the King County Bar Association, including serving as president.

Strout received the law school’s 2007 Reah M. Whitehead Leadership Award, which recognizes women in the legal profession who have provided outstanding leadership and contributed significantly both to the community and the law school.

Don BlackBlack is managing member of Ogden Murphy Wallace PLLC and a member in the firm’s business and healthcare practice areas. Over the past year, Black has served as chair of the Law Alumni Board’s Nominations Committee and on the Development Committee. He also serves on the Board of the Chief Seattle Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Both Strout and Black have been active members and ardent supporters of the Law Alumni Board. “Their contributions in the law school and Seattle’s legal community have been a great source of pride to the law school,” Dean Kellye Testy said. “We look forward to their tenure as leading officers on the board.”

The Law Alumni Board serves as the governing body of more than 9,000 alumni worldwide and as advisors to the Office of Alumni Relations. The Law Alumni Board is comprised of leading members of the alumni body who have made a commitment to advance the mission of the law school. The board’s activities are designed to strengthen relationships in building an inclusive law school community of alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends.
