Law school launches Law Firm Alumni Challenge
A new initiative will help Seattle University School of Law alumni at law firms and organizations reconnect with their alma mater while helping support the law school.
The law school launched its first Law Firm Alumni Challenge March 1. Through the Challenge, graduates at firms and organizations that employ more than two law alumni encourage their alumni coworkers to make personal gifts to the law school’s Annual Fund for Excellence in an effort to reach 100 percent participation.

These Challenge leaders and others gathered at the Rainier Club to kick-off the new initiative.

“We hope many of our alumni will put their competitive spirit to good use to take part in this important and fun new program,” Dean Kellye Testy said. “As alumni, you know that private support is critical to advancing the law school’s mission of academic excellence and education for justice."
Ted Collins, a distinguished practitioner in residence at the law school and counsel at Perkins Coie, has been named an honorary alumnus of SU Law in his role as chair of this new initiative. In addition to Perkins, five other firms with large numbers of law alumni will participate in this year's launch of the Challenge: Davis Wright Tremaine, Eisenhower & Carlson, Foster Pepper, Gordon Thomas Honeywell and K & L Gates.
Alumni partners and associates leading the effort within each firm are charged with encouraging 100 percent participation. The emphasis throughout is on participation; any and all gifts are welcome and very much appreciated. Any gift made from July 1 to June 30 counts toward this year's 2008-09 Challenge.
