MARKETING AND OUTREACH

In a world of increasing costs and decreasing budgets, academic libraries have recognized the importance of educating our constituents regarding the products and services we offer. (Marketing Toolkit for Academic Law Libraries, Annual Reports in Academic Law Libraries)

The Library is always seeking ways to market our services and reach our patrons. Regular online newsletters, monthly columns and announcements keep the law school community informed of library matters.

The library online newsletter is an informative, yet interesting look at what's going on in the Library. It is distributed quarterly to law school faculty and staff and is available on our library home page. Older issues provide an archival repository of the evolving nature of the Law Library.

A new bi-monthly column in the Prolific Reporter, called 'In the Stacks', features contributions from law library personnel from various departments highlighting services and policies of interest to students. In 2004 the PR awarded ‘In the Stacks’ with the Golden Prong Award for best column by a department.

In 2003, the Law Library was honored to receive the 2003 American Association of Law Libraries Excellence in Marketing Award in the Best Use of Technology category. The Library will continue to explore innovative uses of technology in marketing.



Aspirations/Challenges

Building on our existing outreach mechanisms (e.g., newsletters, columns, announcements, exhibits), we will continue to actively educate our patrons and promote our services and resources on a local, regional, and national basis. As always, we welcome suggestions on how we can keep patrons better informed.
