Gov. Jay Inslee speaks at Diversity Conference
Dean Annette Clark and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee joined lawyers committed to increasing diversity and equality at the 2013 Statewide Diversity Conference last month. As the most diverse law school in the Northwest, Seattle University School of Law was a fitting host for the conference.

Attorney training ramps up
The law school is launching a new Summer Practice Academy in 2014, which will include interactive certificate courses and workshops for attorneys. We'll also continue to offer quality CLE programs, including several in December to help you earn your 2013 credits. Have suggestions? New CLE Director Mark Sideman wants to hear from alumni.

Professor Siegel on the Supremes
Professor Andrew Siegel will provide his unique insights on Constitutional Law at an Influential Voices lecture Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. Professor Siegel, former clerk to Justice John Paul Stevens, will talk about his new book, "The Supreme Court Sourcebook" and his ongoing work in constitutional theory. He will be joined by other former Supreme Court clerks.

Law school salutes veterans
We are proud of the veterans and active duty military among our student body, faculty, staff and alumni. To thank them for their service, we're holding a Veterans Day Reception at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 14. Speakers include Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson, Major General (Ret) Tim Lowenberg, and Army veteran (now 2L) Rosemary Hewitson.

New programs focus on career prep
Seattle University School of Law is helping students develop the job-hunting savvy they'll need in a competitive marketplace with two new programs — the Find a Job series of panel discussions and a vibrant 3L Mentoring Program. Thanks go out to our dedicated alumni who make both programs possible.

How about some hoops?
Grab your Seattle University gear, gather your family and friends, and join law school alumni, students, faculty, and staff at Key Arena for the Seattle University men's basketball game on Nov. 16. The SU Alumni Association is sponsoring a pre-game rally at 5 p.m. in Club Live. Rally admission is free for alumni with a ticket to the game.

October 2013

Annette Clark From Dean Annette Clark

It has been a wonderful fall in the Northwest and a productive time at the law school. We were honored to have members of the judiciary, the practicing bar, and alumni at our annual Red Mass. We welcomed distinguished guests, including Gov. Jay Inslee, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, and King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg, as well as lawyers from around Washington, for the Statewide Diversity Conference. Mr. Ferguson will visit the law school for the third time this fall for our Veterans Day Reception Nov. 14.

We are continually looking for ways to meet the needs of our students and graduates, and I'm very proud to announce the launch of our Summer Practice Academy and new programs aimed at helping prepare our students for careers after law school. I want to thank the alumni who are mentoring our students and sharing their stories through our new Find a Job series. Our students benefit from your experience and expertise. If you are interested in helping, please let us know!
