Instructional Technology is organizing a list of external, online resources of audio and video clips that are often used in legal education. If there are clips you'd like us to include in such a repository, please send an email to Stephanie Zimmerman at zimmermans@seattleu.edu

Skype Study
Students at the University of Michigan are using Skype to host study sessions for exam preparation. Skype, an internet telephony application, has been used for a while in academia for this purpose, and to save money in long distance phone calls to academic colleagues.

Online Rise
In a recent study conducted by the Sloan Consortium, it was found that enrollment in online programs was up by 12% from last year. The study cited economic woes as one of the motivations for the change.

CiteGenie
Zotero, featured in our October newsletter, allows you to collect and organize your research through Firefox. CiteGenie, also a research-related product, concentrates on creating appropriate citations in Bluebook, MLA, APA Chicago, and Wikipedia formats. CiteGenie copies citation information from Westlaw, Lexis, and other web sites, so you can easily paste it into the document on which you are working.

Zamzar
Receiving files from others is sometimes a headache. What type of file is this? How do I open it? How do I edit it? Zamzar is a new online file converter, which allows you to comfortably work with files in the formats you know, from documents, to music and videos. (Just keep in mind, you're uploading your files to a web site, so don't use this service with sensitive material!)

Twiddla
Collaborating in real-time is often more of a hassle than it's worth. You have to install the software, sign up for an account, then login and send out invites. Twiddla, a new web-based whiteboard application, cuts at least two steps from that process. No signup, just start a session and send an invite. You can even share photos and text too.
