Video/Telephone Conferencing Support

To facilitate the live interactive communications with external individuals and classrooms, we have the ability to support both video and telephone based conferences. To request these services, fill out the appropriate Conference Request Form.

Telephone Conferencing

Most office telephones have speaker options; however, for better audio with a room full of people the Law School has two portable telephone conferencing systems. These can be scheduled to be setup in any of the major conference rooms, and have often been used for externship student participation in class.

Limitations

* Special conferencing services charge a per-minute, per-caller fee.

Video Conferencing

The School of Law has one portable video conferencing unit which can be used in small classrooms and conference rooms. In addition Room C5 has specialized audience microphones installed to allow for audio interactions with a larger class.

VTC requests must be submitted well in advance (for testing remote connections) and is subject to the availability of our single unit as well as any special connections that may or may not be required for your conference. Therefore, the more lead time you can give us the better.

Limitations

The quality and connection reliability of video conferencing is dependent on a lot of variables external to Seattle University. Therefore, no video conference is guaranteed. Internet connection problems, firewall issues, and connection speeds at the remote end can all be factors. Also the remote end must have the same type of expensive equipment and connections at their disposal. IP Internet based connections only.

If you have any questions regarding classroom technology or scheduling support from Instructional Technology please e-mail medialaw@seattleu.edu.
