Video Services

Instructional Technology can videotape special events, guest speakers and rescheduled make-up classes in order to place the recordings online for later access. This is ideal for making guest lectures available to evening students, or faculty who need to record their classes for their review processes. However, this service is not available to students who are unable to attend regular class. Therefore, Videotaping Requests must come directly from the Dean’s Office, faculty, secretaries, or departmental staff, and must be submitted at least one week in advance.

Talent Release Forms

All guest speakers (who are not employees of Seattle University) should sign a standardized Talent Release Form before their video recordings will be posted online. This is the responsibility of the event organizers, as the media services staff will be unable to handle this during setup. Forms can be returned to Media Services in Room 311d.

Standardized Recording Output

All recordings (with some rare exceptions) are now captured and saved as compressed Windows Media Files. These files can be placed on our streaming server for online access or saved to CD. In certain circumstances, with prior notice, events can be recorded directly to DVD videos. But this request must be approved before the event is recorded. Also, for efficiency very little, if any editing will be provided for standard recordings.

Streaming Services - Medialaw

Recordings can be placed on our streaming server for access over the internet. These videos can be open to the public (with permission) or limited to subgroups within the School of Law.

For access, visit http://media.law.seattleu.edu. From this homepage you can navigate the various sections to find your video content. To login to restricted content, type "seattleu/username" and then your SU network password. This is the same account username (or alias) you use across campus for e-mail, Insite, wireless internet, etc.

If you have any questions regarding classroom technology or scheduling support from Instructional Technology please e-mail medialaw@seattleu.edu.
