Lessons from Woburn
The Lessons from Woburn videotape series is the only educational videotape
available based on the Anderson v. W.R. Grace case. Specifically produced
to enliven classroom discussion, it will capture the interest of anyone who
has read A Civil Action or viewed the Hollywood movie.
The Lessons from Woburn student course book and videotapes are based on 35
hours of videotaped interviews with participants in the Anderson v. W.R.
Grace case: the judge, plaintiffs' and defense counsel, the parties, jurors,
witnesses, and the author of the book, A Civil Action.
- The first videotape: The Untold Stories (30
minutes) consists of three segments:
- What was the case about?
- Was bifurcation fair?
- Did the truth come out in trial?
- The second videotape: The Rules of Civil Procedure
(131 minutes) is divided into nine segments, including:
- Subject Matter Jurisdiction
- Summary Judgment
- Discovery
- The jury system
- The third videotape: Conduct and Settlement
(50 minutes) has four segments:
- Lawyer behavior
- Attorney-Client relationship
- Financing a lawsuit
- Ethics in negotiation and settlement
