Biography

Janet Chung is Advocacy Director at Columbia Legal Services (CLS), a nonprofit, statewide civil legal aid program, where she oversees and coordinates litigation, policy advocacy, and communications across all of CLS's five offices statewide. CLS uses litigation, policy reform, and innovative partnerships to advocate for people who face injustice and poverty.

Prior to joining CLS, Ms. Chung was Legal and Legislative Counsel at Legal Voice for 10 years. Her work included legislative advocacy on reproductive health care, equal pay, protections for pregnant workers, and paid sick and safe leave. Her cases have involved issues such as gender stereotyping of workers with family caregiving responsibilities, health care refusals, and campus sexual violence. Ms. Chung also practiced employment law in private law firms and has taught legal writing at Seattle University
