Biography

Jane Orenstein joined Delta Dental of Washington in 2013 as Director of Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Services, and recently retired as General Counsel of that company.  Ms. Orenstein began career as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California and has over 40 years of experience as a government attorney as well as in-house counsel to both private and public companies in a variety of businesses including healthcare, financial services, alternative energy, self-storage and the grocery industry. Ms. Orenstein served as an attorney with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation working on the resolution of closed banks in Washington State, and with its predecessor the Resolution Trust Corporation during the savings and loan crisis of the mid-1990s.

While at Delta Dental of Washington, Ms. Orenstein was a charter member of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Community and and served as a Coordinator for the Mission Impact Steering Committee which tracks and publicizes work across the organization in furtherance of the company’s mission to disrupt, transform, and revolutionize the oral health industry in order to remove barriers to health care and improve overall health.  She has been a frequent speaker and panelist at a number of Continuing Legal Education events on a variety of topics related to healthcare, privacy, ethics and DEI.

Jane is a devoted Seattle sports fan and is a past winner of DDWA’s fantasy football league.  She has a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a JD from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.  Her claim to fame is that she was a contestant on Jeopardy in 1994.
