Desiree is a graduate of the University of Washington (B.A. in Political Science and Communications) and California Western School of Law (J.D. with honors) as well as Seattle University (M.P.A). After law school, Desiree worked as a Post-Bar Clerk with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office, followed by employment as an Associate Attorney at a large insurance defense and employment law firm in Los Angeles. Upon her return to Washington, Desiree practiced dependency law with the King County Department of Public Defense and subsequently worked in policy as a Fiscal Analyst at the City of Seattle, Public Affairs Intern with the Washington State House of Representatives, and Session Counsel for the Washington House of Representatives Local Government Committee. Desiree is currently a Senior Counsel with the Office of Program Research at the Washington State House of Representatives and works on a variety of state government issues such as administrative law, elections, campaign finance, public disclosure and government accountability, state contracting, tribal relations, ethics, and records retention. She is admitted to the California and Washington bar.
