The in-house qualifier for the Thomas Tang Regional and International Moot Court Competitions takes place each summer. The in-house qualifier, known as "Summer Tang," is a writing-only competition, while the regional and international competitions include both written and oral advocacy portions.
The host for the regional competition usually alternates between Seattle University and the University of Washington. The regional occurs in October and the international competition is held in November. See the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association website for more details.
Each competitor must have a GPA of 2.0 or better and have either LWII as a pre-requisite or be taking LWII that fall. Thus, usually 1Ls may compete if they will take LWII in the fall of their 2L year.
